Week 2 Observations

The Zero’s
One of the interesting things that I see in the 2nd week in there are three zero’s when looking at the points scored and points against. I will mention the first because it is my River Rats that have allowed no points. This is flat out luck. My defense is ranked 19th. If I was playing any division leader, I would get crushed, this defense is not that good. The 2nd zero is Niagra Falls who have not scored and given up 70. We are hoping that will the new owner QuikStryk(welcome) rights the ship. The 3rd zero is Chandler. The Rattlers have one of the good young QB’s in the league Andy Jacobs and should improve when he does. Both the Rattlers and Oswegos rank 31 and 32 in offensive production.

Greyghost suggestion: This is for the whole league, not just the Rattlers and Oswegos. If you think your team is going to be a bottom dweller, don't trade your draft picks for an over 29-year-old that may fix the problem, it won’t. This is a team game and one player cannot fix a losing team’s issues. Your draft picks next season are gold and that is how they should be treated.

The Winner
The team that won the RB Derrick Barner claim fest was the Nashville Pickers. The Nashville team is playing well, owned by pc2246. It appears they are playing for this season judging by the claim. They won their contest with Barner, his stat line 31 carries 30 yards, 4 catches 18 yards. He will apparently be used frequently. We will keep an eye on this to see if it was worth the 16-million-dollar claim.

A Huge Number
Occasionally when I am looking through the numbers some are just flat out unbelievable. That is the case with CB Joe Ramey of the Fullerton Gauchos. He has 6 ints after 2 games, calculating that over a full season equals an incredible 56 interceptions. Even by MFN standards that is incredible. Yes, he could get injured or his pace might slow down, but it is one of the interesting stories at this point.

Top Game of Week 2
The Gauchos of Fullerton took to the home field looking to go 2-0, but the El Cajon Aztecs had different ideas as the Aztecs won an exciting contest 33-30. The game couldn’t have been more even as the Gauchos had 375 total yards vs. Aztecs 399, both teams had 19 first downs and both teams scored on their 3 red zone opportunities. The Aztecs scored on a 30-yard td to Edward Johnson from QB Andew Sheppard to tie and ended it in overtime with a 34-yard field goal with 2:24 left.

Game of the Week
2 good owners face off in week 3 with Aurora Sky Force playing the El Cajon Aztecs. This will be a big game to determine which team will keep pace with the surprising Redding Red Hornets. The Aztecs coming off a big win in OT are led by RB William Watson and WR Edward Johnson. The Aztecs are ranked 10th in total offense and a paltry 30th on defense. The Sky Force are 1-1 and are coming off a 3-pt loss to Amarillo. They are led by QB John Gauvin and RB Ian Tilton. The Sky Force are ranked 16th in offense and 11th in defense. If the question is asked should both these teams be 2-0, the answer is yes and I am sure the owners would agree. This battle could go two ways. If the game is low scoring the Sky Force should win it, but if there if leans towards high scoring the Aztecs will win in a blowout. The big question can the Sky Force defense answer the call against the potent offense of the Aztecs.
Staying with this subject I will tell what I know about the owners.

Aurora Sky Force- 50051139
The owner is a great person in general. I have had dealings with him in other leagues and he is a great owner. If he can stay focused he will win and should not be taken lightly.

El Cajon Aztecs- hectorg93
A very deceptive owner. I have watched him in leagues and you may think he is just another team, but then suddenly wham, his team is great. He wins and should not be taken lightly.

When we hit week 4, there will be division and conference reports. Everyone stay focused and have fun, this is the beginning of a great league.

Great write up by greyghost as always! Also wanted to emphasize the really important suggestion he wrote up! If you don't feel like your team aren't a lock for a deep playoff run, it's generally best not to trade off your draft picks in order to try to make that run.

will have to say that is so refreshing that he would do that even when he could as easily benefit from it or not benefit from it.

i would say that says alot about his character .

Thanks for the compliment Grey I hold you and a couple other coaches from the USFL to high standards. I love and hate matching up against you cause it lets me guage how I progressed as a player on here but I hate that you make me scout and gameplan so much against you.
